How to FTP and change your site
To make changes to your site yourself you will need to get an FTP client such as Cute FTP which is available (for a fee) from Cute FTP's website at http://www.cuteftp.com or from magazine cover disks/cd's, or you can use the FTP client already embedded in your browser.
You will then need to log onto your site using your password and login name (if forgotten please contact us and we can tell you what they are).
Cute FTP's connect screen
Your site is www.name of your site.co.uk and is under the directory 'public'. Where it says 'initial remote directory' put /public; the process of getting the pages you want to alter down is just a matter of dragging and dropping them.
Cute FTP's main work screen
Once the pages are down open them up in an HTML editor such as Adobe Page Mill, Hot Dog (many free editors are available from the internet or from magazines) or if you don't have one just use Notepad.
Avoid using Word as it messes up the file extensions.
Alter the page/s and save them, keeping the filename and extension exactly the same.
i.e. Your old file' filename.html'-----------Your new file' filename.html'
Then upload them using the FTP client by just dragging the changed files back over onto your site.
